VISUAL ART 12 COURSES DESCRIPTIONS

DESCRIPTIONS
In grade12 students will further discover and explore their own artistic voice. Exploring how art can be used as a tool for communication and self expression. Students will work through a series of projects where they will choose their own media and message in relation to a theme.
NEW for the 2022-2023 school year three different visual art 12 courses are offered . Students can choose to focus on 3D, 2D or a combination. Students may take one or multiple visual art 12 courses.
Students who are planning to apply to a post-secondary art school will be given opportunities to build their portfolio for application.
COURSE OFFERINGS

STUDIO ARTS 2D
DRAWING & PAINTING
Students will have an opportunity to create large and detailed 2D art projects. Students who are planning to apply to a post-secondary art school will be given opportunities to build their portfolio for application.
It is recommended that artists have completed at at least one of Visual Art 11 courses or passion enthusiasm for the visual arts and have approached Ms. Bielus to discuss their interest in the course as grade 12 course will build upon technical skills develop in grade 11 classes.

STUDIO ARTS 3D
SCULPTURE & CERAMICS
This is a hands-on course where students will have the opportunity to both enhance their creativity and focus on developing 3D skills.
Students will be exposed to a variety of sculptural processes including construction, carving, and modelling. Students will explore contemporary and traditional 3D art such as ceramics (clay), found objects, mixed media, and installation art.
It is recommended that students have taken Visual Art Studio 10 or Visual Art Studio 9 or have discussed their interest in the course with the instructor.

STUDIO ART
